Soviet troops hoist the red hammer and sickle flag
over the Reichstag in Berlin, an act that symbolized
the Soviet subjugation of eastern and central Europe.
The Battle of Berlin climaxed the titanic struggle of
German and Soviet forces that began on June 22, 1941.
On the afternoon on April 30, 1945, as Soviet troops
were storming the Reichstag building.
