First settlers return to abandoned outpost

The first family has moved back into a West Bank outpost abandoned in
the context of an agreement between Prime Minister Ehud Barak and the
Yesha Council of Jewish settlements.
The Ben Dor family moved into Mitzpeh Hagit, on the Allon Road, a few
days ago. The outpost had been abandoned over a year ago, but with the
understanding that once the proper planning and building permits had
been obtained, the families that lived there would be able to return.
State planning institutions are also now considering letting settlers
return to Neveh Erez, also on the Allon Road. This outpost was also
vacated over a year ago on the understanding that people would return
once the proper permits were obtained.
Mitzpeh Hagit was set up two years ago by residents of Alon and other
nearby settlements, in memory of Hagit Zavitsky, who was murdered in
Wadi Kelt. It is located about four kilometers south of Michmas. It
was previously inhabited by four families; since they left, private
security guards have protected the two caravans situated there.
As far as is known, Mitzpeh Hagit and Neveh Erez are both within the
territory that Barak wanted to keep under Israeli sovereignty in the
context of a final-status agreement.
A third outpost on the Allon Road, Mitzpeh Danny, is currently
inhabited by 10 families. Under Barak's agreement with the Yesha
Council, this outpost was never vacated.
